Who are RCPG?

We are Ripon Charity Pantomime Group.

The Ripon Charity Pantomime Group is a long-standing amateur dramatics society dedicated not only to entertainment, but also to making a meaningful difference locally. Entirely run by a passionate team of volunteers, the group brings together people of all ages and backgrounds who share a love of theatre and community spirit.

Founded in 1978 the group's very first production was Cinderella. Each year, the society stages a lively, family-friendly pantomime filled with humour, music, and audience participation — keeping the classic British panto spirit alive while adding their own unique charm.

What truly sets the Ripon Charity Pantomime Group apart is its charitable mission. Every performance is driven by the goal of giving back, with all profits donated to local charities and good causes. Thanks to decades of dedication and support from audiences and volunteers alike, the group has proudly raised over £65,000 to support organisations and initiatives within the local community.

More than just a theatre group, the Ripon Charity Pantomime Group is a celebration of generosity, creativity, and community — proving year after year that a shared love of performance can make a real and lasting impact.

Come join the fun

It's not just about what happens on-stage!

We warmly invite you to become part of our vibrant theatre community and play a role in bringing our annual pantomime to life. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or completely new to the stage, there’s a place for you here. Our group thrives on the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers, and we welcome people of all skill levels to get involved.

There are countless ways to contribute. If you enjoy performing, we’re always looking for actors, singers, and dancers to take centre stage.

But the magic of theatre doesn’t stop there—behind every successful production is a talented and hardworking team. If your strengths lie offstage, we’d love your help with lighting, sound engineering, stage design and construction, scenery painting, wardrobe, or props. No matter your experience, there’s always something to learn and a team ready to support you.

We’re also keen to welcome friendly, organised individuals to assist with front-of-house during performances. From greeting audiences as ushers to helping ensure everything runs smoothly, these roles are essential in creating a warm and enjoyable experience for our visitors.

Getting involved is not only a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and build new skills, but also a chance to be part of something truly meaningful.

You’ll be contributing to a fun, creative environment while helping to raise vital funds for local charities and good causes. It’s a rewarding experience both on and off the stage—and we’d love to have you as part of it.
